I think it’s time for a Dustin appreciation post, don’t you?

Yeah, it could have lost like 45 minutes and it was tropey, but it was head and shoulders better horror fare than everything else last year only because it wasn't a sequel and it was an original concept.

Check out House of the Devil. Freshest horror movie in years. It’s a couple years old though but you wont be disappointed. Pure class

So now I’m either going to read HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES until I pass out or watch THE PRISONER.

I watched this yesterday…felt it was too long for it’s own good. The set up/premise was fantastic and original. Too muddled with horror tropes. How many times have we seen creepy kids? How many times do the main characters “discover” the horror through research? Felt like a short film (which it was) that the studio flung money at to make it feature length. They spend WAYYYYY too much time explaining stuff to the characters that the audience already knows. By the end of the movie Mama isn’t scary and we’re sick of looking at her. It felt over explained and it felt like they thought we (the viewers) were retarded. Did we not figure out that every time the moths were around Mama was around? Could they not have made that more clear? Was I supposed to be anticipating every single thing that happened from start to finish? Good cast. Good premise. Execution coulda been better.
